In a vast universe of people. Strangers.
Orbiting.
Are those we’re related to by blood.
A mutual unconditional love.
Passed down, generation to generation.
Bonded together firmly by great memories.
Some love, some like, some can be relied on, some funny, some distant.
Some don’t seem to care.
In the vast universe of people. Faces.
Orbiting.
Are those we choose.
Friends we choose to love.
Those who choose love us back.
Invited into our atmosphere to share our lives.
To create and capture moments in time.
Peter Kay Aunties and Uncles who fill a black hole.
At the centre, shining bright.
A pair, a trio, now four.
A tiny quartet of unity and strength.
Of fun and understanding.
Of love.
Making new memories whilst remembering the old.
Forever linked by an invisible, unbreakable bond.
Moving in the same direction.
Most of the time.
Love this!
This is so beautiful. I especially love the part where you describe your family growing–first a pair, a trio, and then a four. It’s a simple line, yet it’s so powerful.
Thank you, it was the 1st line I wrote. What i think of when i think of family x
Ooh, I like this. I love the exploration of different types of relationships, and the way it flows xxx #ThePrompt
Thank you Leigh x
I am going to sound demented but I swear when I read it earlier it was slanted.. I presumed it was intentional.
Am I losing it?
No you’re not losing it. It wasnt intentional, i did contemplate leaving it, but wasnt sure about it so chickened out x
I liked it. I thought it was really clever lol 😉 x
He he! Thank you, unfortunately it was just me being totally technically incompetent! I might change it back 🙂
Absolutely love this, especially the way it looks at extended family, the family we choose and our own special family units. Beautiful x Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt x
Thank you Sara, I was struggling a bit with the prompt at first, I knew what I wanted to say but couldn’t work out how! Had a light bulb moment yesterday x
Aww, lovely! I love that last few sentences, and how you include families of two (like my husband and me). #PoCoLo
Thank you x
I absolutely love this piece of writing Bec. You have summed up family and what surrounds it perfectly. Thank you for linking to #PoCoLo x
Thank you, I knew I needed to include all of what family means to me x
Love this poem, especially the last verse and the line about your family growing – ‘a pair, a trio, now four’ is such a wonderful line which captures so much.
This is lovely and very true! Love seeing everyone’s different interpretation of the prompts.
