Winter

Cold, dark, wet, grey.
Drawing curtains in the afternoon,
Later dawns and shorter days.

Icy hands, feet, ears, toes.
Wrapping up warm, layers on layers,
Nasty cold and runny noses.

Sleet, hail, ice, snow.
Doing your best to not slip on,
Icy paths and slippy roads.

Stews, roasts, curry, hotpots.
Drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream,
Comfort eating and getting fat(ter)

Blue skies, low sun, frosty morns.
Seeing your breath in the chilly air,
Beauty in frost and all it freezes.

Cold, dark, wet, grey.
Wishing I was a squirrel, hedgehog or bear,
Hibernating and dreaming of summer.

  1. I’ve never been a huge fan of winter and hibernation always appealed to me πŸ™‚ I really love how much you have managed to capture here, the good and the bad. Lovely poem. Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt x

  2. Lovel post! It’s actually Summer on my side of the world and you’ve made me both look forward to and dread winter πŸ˜„ #theprompt
